Random Thoughts – November 24, 2008
* If Alabama loses by less than 7 to Florida, why do they not deserve to play Florida again in the National Championship games – (because the BCS is stupid is not an answer)
* The over under on number of jump shots taken by the Warriors in a given game in March is 250.
* I have come to the conclusion that I am the only person in the Bay Area that realizes that Matt Holiday was picked up by the A’s because A) they need to give their fans something to root for next season and B) Billy Beane gets two first round draft picks when he signs elsewhere next winter.
* I need three reasons why I should watch any Niners game for the rest of the season – rtaylor@gmail.com
* Because they will wear the throw backs one more time this season is not a reason.
* There is no way JaMarcus Russell went 10 for 11
* At this point, you have to trade Cain while he still has value. If the Giants wait too long, they are going to get screwed just like the Warriors with J-Rich
* The Bay Area is a LOT better than New York in November

You can't simultaneously argue for a playoff system (or midterm system) and then claim that Alabama (if they loose by 7 points or less to Florida) they should get another shot at Florida.
If you see the Big 12 Championship game and the SEC Championship game as national semi-final games then you can't demand a rematch of one of the games. The Super Bowl doesn't allow for a rematch of the NFC or AFC championship games.
A playoff system would not allow for a rematch. If that's the ideal then, let's strive for that and not allow a flawed system to create a result we could not experience if we had what Barack Obama is going to use his first 100 days in office to accomplish.
Just as a side note, I would watch any combination of OU, Texas, USC, Texas Tech, Florida and Alabama on a neutral field for the national championship and not feel cheated.

You might be because for the most part Beane seems to favor trades to gather players rather than letting them go for the draft picks except after the A's got their 6 years before free agency.
As an aside, I watched him at the home run derby in 2007 and will relish a chance to watch him regularly over in Oakland for at least half of the year.

Watching the power struggle between him and Mike Martz is riveting. I wish they would just put a camera on the two of them during all remaining games.
